Ulaanbaatar, September 16, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Mongolia held a press briefing on the outcomes and significance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit and the events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people in the War of Resistance and the end of World War II on September 15, 2025.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Mongolia Shen Minjuan noted, “Since its establishment with six founding members, the SCO has, over the past 24 years, evolved into a regional cooperation organisation covering the largest population, the widest territory, and the greatest development potential. The recently concluded SCO Summit in Tianjin has been the most extensive and fruitful meeting to date.

President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping introduced the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) during the summit, which was a highlight of the event. The initiative encompasses five core principles: respect for sovereignty and equality of states, adherence to international law, promotion of multilateralism, a people-centered approach, and a focus on action-oriented guidance. The Global Governance Initiative complements earlier initiatives by the President of the Republic of China, including the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative. Among the eight major outcomes of the summit was the adoption of the SCO’s ten-year development strategy.”

Ambassador Shen Minjian further emphasized that the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, participated in the SCO summit, as well as in bilateral and trilateral meetings. “During the meetings, Heads of State commended the steady expansion and deepening of relations and cooperation across all sectors under the leadership of Presidents. The sides also signed five cooperation documents. Notably, the protocol between the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry of Mongolia and the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China on inspection, quarantine, and veterinary requirements for honey exported from Mongolia to China marks an important step in diversifying agricultural exports. In addition, the seventh trilateral meeting of the Heads of State of Mongolia, the People’s Republic of China, and the Russian Federation was held, the first in three years, demonstrating the tangible progress of trilateral cooperation,” she said.

Ambassador Shen Minjuan also highlighted that the commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression were held in Beijing with grandeur, with President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and the Mongolian delegation attending. She added that the President’s visit to the memorial complex at Janchkhuu Pass dedicated to Mongolian and Soviet soldiers, where President Khurelsukh paid tribute and laid a wreath, served as a reminder that history must not be forgotten but remembered forever.

Following the briefing, journalists asked questions concerning development projects, their progress, and future implementation prospects.
