USAID workshop among members of Mongolia’s Parliament discusses increasing citizen engagement
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) today, May 4, organized a discussion with members of Mongolia’s Parliament, or State Great Khural, on ways to increase citizen engagement in the political process. The event is the latest in a series of workshops on legislative transparency taking place under USAID’s Strengthening Women and Youth Engagement in the Electoral and Political Processes in Mongolia (SWYEEPPM) program.

Public COVID-19 vaccine rollout accelerated to rural aimags
Starting May 3, Sunday, the public vaccine rollout has been intensified to cover residents in rural aimags of the country. On this day, consignments of additional 93,000 doses of vaccines against coronavirus were sent to 11 aimags from Ulaanbaatar city under security escort.

Working group on establishment of sovereign wealth and unified accumulation funds meets
On April 29, Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene held a consultative meeting with members of the working group in charge of drafting frameworks for the Sovereign Wealth Fund and Unified Accumulation Fund. Mongolia currently has Future Heritage Fund and Fiscal Stability Fund.
Mongolian People’s Party, Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party merge
n April 29, Mongolian People’s Party, the ruling party in the parliament of Mongolia, and Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party established an agreement to merge in a virtual ceremony. A joint working group selected from the two political parties has written the agreement with a total of 33 sets of articles.
Parliament makes amendments to Law on Presidential Election
On April 29, State Great Khural, the parliament of Mongolia approved amendments to the Law on Presidential Election of Mongolia. The quadrennial presidential election is scheduled on June 9, 2021.

Presidential election candidates’ declaration of income, assets will be placed open to public
The Presidential Election of Mongolia will be held on June 9, 2021, throughout the country. Pursuant to Article 10.6 of the Anti-Corruption Law, Article 11.2 of the Law on Election, and Article 28.2.3 of the Law on Presidential Election of Mongolia, a candidate for the President of Mongolia shall submit their Declaration of Interest, Income, and Assets to the Independent Authority Against Corruption.
