Longevity grant to be issued twice a year
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Starting in 2017, elders aged above 65 are expected to benefit from Longevity grant twice a year on national holidays, Lunar New Year and Naadam Festival.
When the Ministry of Finance issued a press release on 2017 state budget, it was stated that the Law on Social Protection for Elderly will be revised to enable the issuance of the Longevity Grant.
According to a Ministry of Labor and Social Protection official, the bill was proposed to Parliament. "MNT 22.5 billion has been allocated in the 2017 budget. We've estimated that around 80 thousand elders are eligible for the Longevity grant", said A.Nemekhbaatar, specialist in charge of elders and aging, Department of Population Development at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
The Law will facilitate that elders of age range 65-69 will receive MNT 50 thousand, 70-79 will receive MNT 80 thousand, 80-89 will receive MNT 150 thousand and those aged above 90 will receive MNT 250 thousand.
