Forum on food safety to be organized

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the initiative of the Mongolian President, a national forum themed “Food safety of Mongolia” will be held in September.
To be co-organized by the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, the FAO and the Mongolian Union of Food Producers, the forthcoming event aims to determine a present situation of the food industry of Mongolia, to work out proposals about requirements to be implemented for providing the population with domestically-made foods, improving the food provision and ensuring the food safety.
The forum is expected to attract officials from the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, the General Inspection Agency and the Customs Office, scholars, researchers, farmers and food producers.
Sub-meetings will be organized ahead of the upcoming forum. The first sub-meeting concerning urgent problems to producers of meat, egg, pork and chicken and solutions is scheduled on August 28 and the next sub-meeting on urgent problems to producers of dairy products, drinks and oil--on August 29. The last sub-meeting on problems to farmers of potatoes and pastry companies will be held on August 30.
