Sustainable Tourism project to be implemented

Uvs /MONTSAME/ A seminar for a new project ‘Sustainable tourism of Mongolia and Inclusive Economy’ concluded on April 18. The project is being implemented by Mongolia, Thailand and Germany.

Organized by local coordinators and Expert of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Ch.Oyun-Erdene, the seminar was held with participation of 30 representatives of government and civil society organizations.

During the seminar,  a group which visited Tailand reported on their  experience and the attendees determined project participants’ roles, responsibilities and expecting outcomes. They also defined regions in which community based tourism can be developed, travel routes and types of souvenir and gifts for tourists. Tourists generally travel en route Uvs and Khyargas lakes, Goojuur waterfall and Mt. Deglii Tsagaan. They also visit Golden Sand (Altan els) and head of Nariin river.

A working group to implement the project at the aimag level was established with composition of representatives from government organizations, network of civil-society organizations, council of SMEs, media and private tourism organizations.
