Number of mammals in UB green space increases

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Environmental Department of Ulaanbaatar city has conducted a monitoring on populations of mammals living in green space of the capital city. According to the monitoring, the number of cervus elaphus has increased by 19.5 percent, musk deer by 40 per cent and roe deer by 15 per cent.
In accordance with the law on animal, all administrative units should conduct a census in their administrative area once in every five years. Currently, 51 types of mammals have been registered in the capital city.
It is said that the number of mammals’ population has increased in connection with actions being taken such as regular application of biotechnology, improvement of control equipment of rangers, work intensification of anti-poaching patrols, and increasing public engagement in informing injured animals and protecting them.
