Wintry weather to stick around Lunar New Year holiday

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Snowfall is expected in mountainous areas of Khangai, in southern parts of gobi aimags on February 6, in areas of western and central aimags on February 7, and in some areas of the country on February 8.
Wind speed will be 7-12m/s in most of the country. However, it will get stronger reaching 14-16m/s in gobi and prairie areas on February 6, followed by snow and dust storms.
In the depression of Uvs lake and Darkhad, in the head of Zavkhan rivers, in the basins of Ider and Tes rivers, the nighttime temperature will range from -37 to -42 degrees Celsius, the daytime temperature will be – 35 to -30.
In mountainous areas of Khangai, Khuvsgul and Khentei, near Khurenbelchir, in the banks of Orkhon- Selenge, and in the basins of Eg-Uur, Kharaa, Yuruu, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon, Ulz and Khalkh rivers, the nighttime temperature will be -33 to -38 degrees Celsius. The areas will get up to -27 and the highest of the day will reach -22 degrees Celsius.
In southern parts of gobi region, the nighttime temperature will be relatively mild at -17-22 degrees Celsius whereas the daytime temperature will be -7 to -12.
In other areas, the nighttime temperature will be -27 to -32 degrees Celsius and the daytime temperature will be -17 to -22.
