Introduction of Norwegian Red cow discussed

/MONTSAME/ Taking part in the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture 2020 in
Germany, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Ch.Ulaan met with
Minister of Agriculture and
Food of the Kingdom of Norway Olaug Bollestad.
Minister
Ch.Ulaan expressed his interest in expanding cooperation with Norway on the
development of intensive livestock farming, improvement of animal health
services, as well as the monitoring and control of highly infectious animal
diseases. He commended the mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation where the Norwegian
Veterinary Institute is helping eradicate animal diseases in the eastern region
of Mongolia, carry out joint research projects on the monitoring and control highly
infectious animal diseases, and strengthen national capacity, and the Norwegian
veterinarians are gaining more experience and practical skills.
Ms. Olaug
Bollestad proposed continuing with that collaboration and stressed the importance of the partnership between the veterinary agencies of the two countries.
The
Norwegian side showed an interest in bringing Norwegian Red dairy cattle that has a high milk
yield to Mongolia, saying it is possible to share the practices of the country’s
GENO agricultural cooperative and work together for the advancement of
intensive farming.
She then noted her understanding of the quality of Mongolian cashmere products and that there
are customers who are interested after Minister Ch.Ulaan informed that Mongolian
companies are are keen to export wool and cashmere products suitable for
Norway’s cold climate.
