Parliament approves PM Khurelsukh's resignation
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On January 21, the plenary session of the State Great Khural, the parliament of Mongolia, held a discussion and voted on the resignation of Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh. 95.2 percent of 63 members in attendance voted in favor of his departure.
In accordance with corresponding laws, 31st Prime Minister of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and his entire cabinet, formed in July 2020, will be stepping down.
At the parliament session, MP S.Byambatsogt highlighted that this is the first occasion where the Prime Minister is resigning at his own request since Mongolia adopted its first democratic Constitution in 1992.
The ruling Mongolian People’s Party is expected to convene tomorrow to name candidates for the 32nd Prime Minister and next cabinet members.
