Erdenet Medipas to be taken back under state ownership

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A press release issued by the cabinet secretariat on June 24, informed that the Erdenes Medipas hospital, which was built by MNT 64.8 billion investment by the Erdenet Mining Corporation, has been transferred to the private sector illegally. 


Concerning this, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia and Chair of the State Emergency Commission S.Amarsaikhan and corresponding officials have been charged with reclaiming the state budget-funded hospital and exploring opportunities to utilize the hospital for the COVID-19 response measures. 


Deputy PM Amarsaikhan emphasized that it is now important to stop the illegal activities and use the hospital as an interregional healthcare facility in accordance with its initial purpose with a view to reduce burden from the country’s hospitals and increase beds available for the coronavirus patients. 


The Erdenet Medipas Hospital, employing over 120 doctors and healthcare workers, holds the capacity to care for 500 people per day and is equipped with screen diagnostic laboratory, ambulatory care unit, medical check-up unit, intensive care unit, anesthesia unit and in-patient treatment care unit.
