Yoga day performances enliven central square

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 3rd International Day of Yoga celebration in Ulaanbaatar gathered dozens of yoga practitioners to the central square for a yoga lesson and performance on June 18, Sunday.

In his opening speech, Ambassador of India to Mongolia Suresh Babu said, “Regular practice of yoga helps one develop a healthy body and mind. Yoga brings about a positive change in our daily lives”.

He also thanked Members of Parliament B.Undarmaa and B.Oyunchimeg, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ts.Munkh-Orgil, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold and other officials for coming to the yoga day celebration.



The event was organized by Embassy of India and supported by Government of Mongolia, Art of Living, Braham Kumar is Yoga, Federation of Yoga and other yoga centers in Mongolia.

The UN proclaimed June 21 as the International Day of Yoga following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to have a designated Yoga Day. The day has been marked since 2015 around the world and in Mongolia also.

The first International Yoga Day celebration in Mongolia took place on the central square, attracting more than 1000 participants, whereas the 2016 celebration at the Indian Embassy was attended by more than 300 yoga practitioners.
