Infants with congenital heart defects to be treated free-of-charge

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Health has reported that over hundred infants aged under 12 months and one year suffering from genetic congenital heart defects will have medical treatment.

A cooperation memorandum on the free-of-charge service for the infants was signed by Ts.Tumur-Ochir, Director of the 3rd Central Hospital, Liu Xuanguo, Vice President of Red Cross Society of China and N.Bolormaa, Secretary General of Mongolian Red Cross Society (MRCS) on August 31.

The document will be co-implemented by the 3rd Central Hospital of Ulaanbaatar and the Health Foundation at the Red Cross Society of China in frames of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a development strategy proposed by Xi Jinpin, President of China.

In the scope of the memorandum, a joint group of medical doctors and surgeons from the 3rd Hospital of Ulaanbaatar and Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region of China will diagnose and select children, who need to be undergone heart surgeries. They will have the medical treatment in cardiology hospitals of Hohhot and Beijing. All expenses of accommodation, foods and transport fares will be covered by the Health Foundation of China.
