Indian Government Provides Protheses to Citizens with Developmental Challenges

The Embassy of India in Mongolia in collaboration with the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Protection, the Ministry of Health, and the General Department of Development of Persons with Developmental Challenges of Mongolia implemented the “Jaipur Foot” project, starting from September 25 until November 7, 2024. The project is fully funded by the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India.
The Project was conducted through Bhagwan
Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), a prominent organization in India,
for 50 days. BMVSS has
successfully implemented the Jaipur Foot Project in 21 countries, benefiting
over 2 million people by providing artificial limbs and rehabilitation services.
Local
specialists from the fields of prosthetics and orthopedics, including the Rehabilitation, Training, and Production
Centre and the Development Center for Children with
Developmental Challenges have collaborated with Indian experts to
acquire new skills and technologies for this cost-effective project and helped
over 600 Mongolians with disabilities.
The project provided 645 prosthetic devices, including 298 above-knee, 308 below-knee, and 39 arm prosthetics, serving 581 individuals across Mongolia. The General Department of Development of Persons with Developmental Challenges remarked that this collaboration is paving the way for further partnerships aimed at exchanging best practices and introducing advanced technological methods in this field.
