Thirtieth Anniversary of the Mongolia-Japan "Partnership Association" Celebrated in Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar, December 19, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 30th Anniversary Celebration of the “Partnership Association” supporting Mongolia-Japan relations was held at the Mongolia-Japan Center on December 18, 2024.


The association was founded in 1994 at the initiative of the late Dambadarjaa Dambadarjaa, who served as the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Japan.


The Ceremony was attended by Galbadrakh Janchiv, Head of the Mongolia-Japan Parliamentary Group of the State Great Khural of Mongolia, former Prime Minister of Mongolia Sodnom Dumaa, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia, Igawahara Masaru, anh his spouse. The event commenced with an opening speech by Jigjid Rentsendoo, President of the “Partnership Association.”


In his speech the President of the “Partnership Association” highlighted the organization's commitment to further strengthening the friendly relations between Mongolia and Japan, with a particular focus on expanding trade, economic ties, and cooperation between the two countries.

The celebration organized to mark both the 50th anniversary of the Mongolia-Japan Cultural Exchange Agreement and the 30th anniversary of the Association.


During the Ceremony, Academician Batbayar Tsedendamba delivered a presentation on the activities of the “Partnership Association” and the topic “50 Years of Mongolia-Japan Cultural Relations.”


In his presentation, Academician Batbayar highlighted, “The Association played a pivotal role in establishing cooperation between Narun Secondary School and Shimada City, as well as between Izumisano City in Japan and Tuv aimag, Mongolia. These partnerships continue to thrive.

The Association also hosted notable figures such as Ayako Kobayashi, the Lead Actress of the film Oshin, and her team in 1997, as well as Chizuko Obuchi and Yuko Obuchi, the wife and daughter of former Prime Minister of Japan Keizo Obuchi, in 2003. 


Additionally, the Association invited former wartime soldier H. Tamura in 2004 and Cultural Envoy and renowned singer Aki Yashiro for performances and the production of documentaries in 2018.

The Association has actively raised funds to assist victims of natural disasters, such as the 2004 earthquake in Japan, the 2011 Fukushima disaster, the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, and the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake. The collected donations were handed over to the Embassy of Japan in Mongolia."


Also, Batbayar said the significance of these activities, which have been diligently undertaken over the past 30 years, during his presentation.
