Construction of the Bagakhangai-Khushig Valley Railway to Begin this Month

Ulaanbaatar, April 3, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The construction of a railway through the territory of Sergelen soum, Tuv aimag, to the Khushig Valley and a transport logistics center will begin by the end of April 2025.

 

The new railway line will branch off from the Bagakhangai station of "Ulaanbaatar Railway" JV, pass through Sergelen soum, and head south of the new international airport. This railway will be 102 km long with two stations, four crossings, and a 2.5 km long bridge structure. Construction of this railway is scheduled to be completed by August 20, 2025.

 


Minister of Road and Transport of Mongolia Delgersaikhan Borkhuu held a consultation meeting with officials of road and bridge construction companies on the construction of the Bagakhangai-Khushig Valley branch railway, emphasizing the plan to establish a satellite city with a population of 150 thousand in the Khushig Valley. The satellite city will feature a free economic zone and an industrial, transport, and logistics zone. The Minister highlighted that these construction works will be carried out by Mongolian engineers, involving domestic companies, and completed in a short time with high quality.

 

Underscoring the increasing role and responsibility of the sector in developing infrastructure and transport and logistics, the Minister and the officials of the companies exchanged views on cooperation in the construction of the Bagahangai-Khushig Valley railway and in major projects to be implemented this year,

 

The meeting was attended by more than 100 officials representing companies operating in road and bridge construction.
