6.0 magnitude earthquake recorded in Gobi-Altai aimag

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics has reported that a strong earthquake occurred in Gobi-Altai aimag.
More specifically, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake was detected at a depth of 10 km from the earth's surface. The quake was recorded 46 km to the northeast of Altai soum, Gobi-Altai aimag at 11.04 pm on January 17.
Previously, on December 23, 2021, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake was also detected in an area called Yargait, which is 46 km to the southeast of Khaliun soum, Gobi-Altai aimag. Although citizens reported having felt tremors, the earthquake was reported to have caused no damages.
