Ulaanbaatar, November 2, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia is celebrating its National Pride Day, the 862nd Anniversary of the Birth of Great Emperor Chinggis Khaan, on November 2, 2024.

National Pride Day has been celebrated annually as a National Holiday since 2012, by Decree No.4 of 2012 by the President of Mongolia. National Pride Day is celebrated on the birthday of Great Emperor Chinggis Khaan, which was designated to be the first day of the first winter month of the lunar calendar, based on the relevant working group’s decision and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences' proposal.

On the National Pride Day, the State Supreme Decoration of Mongolia, Order of Chinggis Khaan, is awarded to a group, citizen, or legal entity of Mongolia that has made valuable contributions to strengthening the independence, sovereignty, and national unity of Mongolia, developing a humanitarian and democratic society, promoting social progress, studying, and passing down the traditions of statehood, history, and culture to future generations, and promoting these values abroad.

Also, the State Supreme Decoration of Mongolia, Order of Chinggis Khaan, is awarded to a foreign state or public figure, or citizen who has made tangible contributions to strengthening unity and prosperity among nations, consolidating peace for humanity, advancing Mongolia’s relations and cooperation with foreign countries, and promoting Mongolia’s reputation globally, while contributing to the economic, social, and intellectual development of the country.

Due to the lunar calendar, the first day of the first winter month occurs differently in the Gregorian calendar each year.
