Ulaanbaatar, April 9, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Every April, Mongolia holds the "Occupational Health and Safety Month" Nationwide Campaign to prevent industrial accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses.

This year’s Campaign is centered around the theme“Development of Health and Safety: Utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization,” as promoted by the International Labor Organization. As part of the Campaign, the first season of 2025 was declared the “Season of Health and Safety within the Energy Sector,” and a forum was organized on April 4, 2025, focusing on the occupational safety of the energy sector. The second, third, and fourth seasons of this year will focus on improving the implementation of health and safety standards in higher-risk sectors such as mining, construction, and transportation.

Statistics show that 809 individuals were harmed from industrial injuries and acute illness, which is twice as high as the number compared to the previous year. The majority of instances of occupational illness happen in the mining sector, while fatalities still occur in the construction sector. To address these issues, efforts are being made to clarify the legal environment, enhance the infrastructure for occupational health and safety, improve medical services, advance scientific research and statistics, strengthen human resources, and improve safety oversight systems.
