Mongolian Sambists Win Two Gold and Five Bronze Medals at World Championships

Ulaanbaatar, November 10, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolian athletes claimed two gold and five bronze medals at the 2025 World Sambo Championships held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.


Competitors from 88 countries participated in sport, combat, and para sambo categories. Under the leadership of Honored Athlete of Mongolia and Paralympic bronze medalist Uugankhuu Bolormaa, Mongolia fielded its first-ever para sambo team, winning one gold and one bronze medal. Chuluunsukh Galbadrakh earned gold in the 79 kg para sambo category, while Tserentogtokh Naranjargal took bronze in the -98 kg class.


In sport sambo, Sumiya Lkhagvasuren won gold in the 64 kg division, making the Mongolian national anthem play for the second time in Bishkek. Purevdorj Damdinsuren, a world champion and two-time silver medalist, added a bronze medal in the +98 kg category, thus completing his world championship medal set.


Additionally, Bayarmaa Nekhiitbaatar (women’s 54 kg, sport sambo), Tugsbold Tsogtbaatar (men’s 64 kg, combat sambo), and Nomintuya Enkhbaatar (women’s division) each secured bronze, further contributing to Mongolia’s overall medal tally.
