“Silk Road and Kharakhorum” international scientific conference held
On July 18, in the city of Kharakhorum, ancient capital of Mongol Empire, the International Scientific Conference on “Silk Road and Kharakhorum” was organized by the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations which is the UNESCO Category 2 Institute, in partnership with the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, Management Office of the World Heritage – Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape and Kharakhorum Museum, with the support of Uvurkhangai Province Administration, “Bayangobi” tour camp alongside the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, Erdene Zuu.

Sum Khukh Burd, stone castle ruin to become tourism complex
Museum of Dundgobi aimag has a new building to display its exhibits on the shore of the Khukh Burd Lake, which lies on the territory of Adaatsag soum. Construction works to establish a tourism complex based on the ancient historical and cultural site of the Sum Khukh Burd, a stone castle ruin, started two years ago with the funding of MNT2 billion from the local development fund

Playtime 2017: Rocks the hearts of music lovers
Playtime - one of the biggest music festival in Asia gathered thousands of music lovers at Mongol Shiltgeen in Gachuurt VIllage of Ulaanbaatar between July 7 and 9. Playtime music festival is an annual music festival founded in 2002. With an aim to develop modern music culture, the event features prominent Mongolian and foreign musical artists from various genres of music, including rock, indie and electronic dance music. Inspired by the music wave of late 90’s and early 2000’s, Playtime became a promotional stage for new artists.

Ballet dancers win awards from international competition in South Korea
Ballet dancers of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet successfully took part in the 10th Korea International Ballet Competition held from June 28 to July 2. Ballet dancer O.Khatanbaatar won third place, B.Dulguun was granted with a special prize, while dancers M.Telmen and Batchimeg were entitled to study in the Samyoung University.

2000-3000-year-old rock paintings unveiled
2000-3000-year-old rock paintings have been revealed in Bayan-Uul soum of Dornod aimag. Local people informed that small and big rocks with paintings on them lie horizontally on a path, not far from the center of Ereen bag /small administrative unit/. A working group was immediately set up and three small and big rocks with paintings were dug out. These kinds of rock paintings are rarely found in the territory of Dornod aimag.
