Anti-drug agreement to be signed between Mongolia and Hong Kong

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Justice and Home Affairs S.Byambatsogt met with Rimsky Yuen, Secretary for Justice of Hong Kong during his working visit to the People's Republic of China. During the meeting, Mr. Rimsky Yuen expressed his pleasure for the extent of legal support between Mongolia and Hong Kong and noted his intention in activating more efficient cooperation.

Mr. Rimsky Yuen shared a number of possibilities for the Legislative Council of Hong Kong to cooperate within the frameworks of alternative dispute resolution and arbitrage. After noting the importance of legal support agreement to fight against drugs and money laundering crimes, Mr. S.Byambatsogt expressed his expectation in establishing the legal support agreement on criminal cases within 2017.

Also, he mentioned the increasing number of drug trafficking, trade, marketing and usage in Hong Kong and highlighted the importance of focusing on these cases.

Furthermore, Mr. S.Byambatsogt informed the revision of the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedural Code of Mongolia, which forbids the public servants to have offshore accounts, own real estates and movable properties in offshore zones, conceal tax information and keep money gained through bribe and corruption under offshore accounts. He also informed Mongolia's intention in fighting heavily against these crimes and noted the importance of related information and legal support agreement.

The sides agreed to sign the agreement within the year and to hold a series of training among the law enforcers as well as to exchange information on the criminals who concealed extortion money and are involved in money laundering.
