Australian Ambassador praises first direct flight to Sydney as historic event

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. MIAT Mongolia Airlines flight departed to Australia on Saturday evening, June 6, to bring more than 260 Mongolian nationals home. The chartered repatriation flight is the first ever direct passenger flight from Mongolia to Australia. 


About the charter flight between Sydney and Ulaanbaatar, Ambassador of Australia to Mongolia Dave Vosen tweeted “Very pleased to assist the departure of the first ever MIAT flight on its way to Australia. An historic event for Flag of Australia-Flag of Mongolia relations. Hope it is the first of many directly connecting our students, companies, investors and new trade opportunities. Safe flight home compatriots!."


The flight, which was originally scheduled to arrive in Ulaanbaatar on Monday morning, has taken off from Sydney this morning and will be landing at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport on the evening of June 8, Monday, after making a fuel stop in Cebu City of the Philippines.
