ACMS Field Research Fellowship 2021 open for applications

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The American Center for Mongolian Studies (ACMS), with funding support from the US State Department Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Council of American Overseas Research Centers, invites applications for the eighth year for the ACMS Field Research Fellowship Program.
The program will provide awards of up to $4,000 for student, post-doctoral, or faculty to conduct short-term field research in Mongolia in 2021 if travel conditions allow.
“Travel to and from Mongolia remains highly restricted due to COVID-19 regulations, and it is unknown when or if travel to Mongolia will resume in 2021. If travel remains restricted, researchers selected for the Field Research Fellowship will be able to defer their field research projects to 2022” reports the ACMS.
Open to US citizens currently enrolled full-time (students) or employed at least part-time (post-docs and faculty) at a university or college or students who have just graduated, the program will fund research projects in any field, including humanities, sciences and social sciences that will support the development of US-Mongolian cooperation.

Background
The American Center for Mongolian Studies (ACMS) is a private, non-profit educational organization that supports academic projects and exchanges in Mongolia and the Inner Asian region, which includes Mongolia and the neighboring areas of China, Russia and Central Asia.
The ACMS represents a consortium of over 40 academic institutions active in the field of Mongolian Studies in North America, and includes more than 300 individual student and scholar members. The ACMS supports scholars working in all fields of study related to Mongolia, and serves as a central meeting place for Mongolian and international academics. It maintains a US office in the Center for East Asian Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and regularly sponsors Mongolian Studies events in the United States and Canada.
Since its founding, the ACMS has provided more than $2.4 million in support of Mongolian Studies programs, including field research and academic exchange fellowships to more than 100 scholars from Mongolia and other countries. The ACMS has hosted almost 200 Speaker Series events and dozens of academic conferences and workshops.
