Aid to be delivered to provinces with worst wintering

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Head of cabinet secretariat, the Deputy PM and other officials ran January 15 an online meeting with governors of Zavkhan, Uvs, Dundgovi and Sukhbaatar aimags. Most of the areas of these aimags are covered with 12-40-cm thick snow.

Five soums of Sukhbaatar province have smallpox outbreak and a shortage of vaccines, the governor reported. Herders request animal fodder by credit, he added.

In response, the Deputy PM Ts.Oyunbaatar said that 6,580 tons of hay and 2,678 tons of fodder have been distributed to aimags to be sold at discounted prices, and, in some cases, will be given free of charge. For overcoming the wintering difficulties, 1.4 billion MNT has been budgeted, he added.

In overall, Mongolian territory is covered with 10-40cm thick layers of snow. White dzud (second worst wintering condition) has hit 50 soums of 16 aimags.

The head of cabinet secretariat S.Bayartsogt warned the soum authorities to provide information readiness in case of emergencies and to ensure safety of trucks and vehivles used in transportation between localities and cities.
