CEDAW to consider Mongolia’s report on rights of women

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is to consider the Report on Women’s Right in Mongolia on February 19. Under Convention on the Elimination of All Forms ofDiscrimination against Women (1979), it is obligatory to the parties to report to the Committee each year.

The CEDAW is to touch upon matters of protection of women under violence, social mentality on gender, lack of access for women to politics and social life, marriage contracts, property owning, citizenship of a child with Mongolian mother and an expat father, high rate of abortion, access to contraception approaches, as well as the issues concerning indigenous, minority and stateless women, and female and underage heads of households.
