Mongolian Heritage Day hosted Washington DC

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ An event “Mongolian Heritage Day” has been successfully co-organized by the Embassy of Mongolia in Washington DC and the World Bank for the first time at the WB headquarters on May 2-4.

The Mongolian Ambassador B.Altangerel and the Alternate Executive Director of World Bank for Mongolia Mr Jason Allford delivered opening speeches at the opening ceremony which was attended by Ms Susan Thornton, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the State Department's Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, officials of the World Bank /WB/, International Monetary fund /IMF/ and Mongolian citizens in the USA.  

In his opening remarks, Ambassador B.Altangerel highly acknowledged significant contributions of the World Bank to Mongolia saing "Although Mongolian economy is facing challenges constituted by the fall of minerals prices on the global market and both external and internal factos, Mongolia  is confident that it can tackle them with support of the World Bank/WB/ and the International Monetary fund /IMF/.

Then Mr Jason Allford said with a population of only three million, Mongolia has a great history and rich tradition and culture noting that he is an Alternate Executive Director for 14 countries of World Bank.

During the opening ceremony, Mongolian folkart performance was staged which was followed by Solo Art Exhibition “Eternal Sky” by Mongolian artist Ganbaatar Choimbol.

Our country became the 155th member of the World Bank in February, 1991. Since then, 131 projects totaling USD 800 million have been carried out in the fields of infrastructure, education and healthcare.
