90 household apartment, dedicated to blind people commissioned

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On September 20, a 90-household new apartment, dedicated to employees of the Manufacture of Blind people was handed over to its residents. Construction works of the apartment started in 2015 and a total of MNT4 billion 850 million was spent for the building from the state budget.

“It is a part of works implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MLSP) to improve social welfare and support employment of persons with a visual impairment. Social welfare and protection issue for disabled people is a focus area of state policy on population’s development” said G.Unurbayar, MLSP State secretary.

It is the second apartment built for the persons with visual impairment after 31 years since the first one constructed in 1986. As of 2016, there are 100.933 disabled people in Mongolia, making up 3.7 per cent of the population. 11 thousand people among them are visually impaired.
