630 mining permits granted this year
Economy | MiningUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A total of 40 open pit mines and three concentrate plants were commissioned in 2015, creating 5,342 jobs. The total amount of all projects cost some 1.2 billion MNT.
It was said by the Ministry of Mining at a monthly “Transparent Mining” press conference on December 3. Thirteen mines, supposed to be commissioned, have not been started due to financing issues, market problems, and infrastructure, equipment installment and other factors, said the officials.
The Ministry also said 630 special permits for exploration were granted since a launch of the electronic petition receiving system. As of December 3, there were a total of 3,248 permits, of which 1,772 are for exploration, and 1,476 for exploitation.
