Prime Minister checks COVID-19 vaccine rollout preparations

February 16, today, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene and Minister of Health
S.Enkhbold worked at the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) in
Ulaanbaatar, the national public health institute supporting the government’s
response to COVID-19, to check the preparations underway for the COVID-19
vaccine rollout in Mongolia, which is scheduled to launch by next week.
Officials from the NCCD informed the vaccination will be done at
548 locations across the country, including school and kindergarten halls, and
vaccine cold storage facilities are ready for refrigerating at three levels of
conditions once they arrive in Mongolia.
Mongolia is preparing to vaccinate 60 percent of
its population in phases based on priority groups. The first phases of the
vaccination against coronavirus are expected to cover around 20 percent of the
population or some 690,000 people, including some 50,000 healthcare personnel
of public and private sector, 52,750 personnel working in COVID-19 frontline
teams and 583,545 people 50 years or older.
Around 11,605 personnel are planned to be mobilized to support
the country’s vaccination effort.
Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene said that the ongoing COVID-19
testing campaign 'One door- one test' in Ulaanbaatar has covered more than
200,000 people as of today and confirmed 23 positive cases, which shows this
extensive testing method is providing some results and helping to prevent from
further spread of community transmission.
“We will start bringing the vaccines approved by the WHO for
emergency use starting today under careful inspections by professional
organizations. As the Prime Minister of the country, I will become the
country’s first person to receive COVID-19 vaccine to encourage the population
to take the vaccine.”
