Prime Minister of Mongolia Receives Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy of Vietnam

Ulaanbaatar, July 30, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On July 29, 2025, Prime Minister of Mongolia Zandanshatar Gombojav received Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Huy Tien.
During the meeting, Prosecutor
General Nguyen Huy Tien expressed confidence that favorable conditions for
Vietnamese citizens living and working in Mongolia will continue to be
sustained.
Currently, more than 800 Vietnamese nationals live and work in
Mongolia. The Prosecutor General conveyed to Prime Minister Zandanshatar that prosecution
authorities of the two countries have agreed to cooperate in combating
corruption, abuse of official position, and drug-related crimes.
The parties noted that the Memorandum
of Understanding on Countering Transnational Drug Trafficking Crime, which
was signed during the State Visit of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to
the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 2023, represents an important step in
advancing bilateral cooperation between the law enforcement institutions of the
two countries.
During the Prosecutor General’s visit, the prosecution
authorities of the two countries signed a Cooperation Program for 2026-2027.
Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav affirmed that the
Government of Mongolia will support efforts to advance bilateral cooperation
in line with modern trends and to expand the cooperation through new forms
and substantive initiatives, particularly strengthening ties in the field of
law enforcement.
Since the entry into force of
the intergovernmental agreement on visa exemption for holders of
diplomatic, official/special, and ordinary passports in March 2024,
bilateral travel has increased. As of the first five months of 2025, the number
of Mongolian citizens traveling to Vietnam reached 20,000, a 64 percent
increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
