Mongolist Anna Tsendina Donates Rare Zanabazar-Era Deity Sculpture

Ulaanbaatar, September 19, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Dr. Anna Tsendina Damdinova, a Mongolist and daughter of the distinguished academician and three-time Laureate of the State Premium of Mongolia, Damdinsuren Tsend, donated a rare sculpture of the deity Lkham Norjunma (also known as Vasudhara, or Golden Tara), attributed to the early works of Undur Gegeen Zanabazar, to the Chinggis Khaan National Museum on September 18, 2025.


Chuluun Sampildondov, Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, emphasized that presenting this rare piece, preserved by the distinguished scholar and regarded as a valuable heritage of Mongolia’s history and culture, to the museum’s collection constitutes a significant milestone in the museum’s history.


During the event, Dr. Anna Tsendina and R. Otgonbaatar, the last disciple of Academician Damdinsuren, shared personal memories about how he had safeguarded the sculpture.


The ceremony was attended by Academician D. Tumurtogoo, former Vice President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences; Academician T. Dorj, Vice President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences; and Academician Ts. Tserendorj, among other guests.
