Deputy Prime Minister reports on Otgontenger climbing accident

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Prime Minister U.Enkhtuvshin reported on the search-and-rescue operation for 17 missing mountaineers on Otgontenger Mountain in Zavkhan aimag, during the Cabinet’s regular meeting on October 25.
Bodies of the mountaineers were found and brought to Ulaanbaatar, and identification by family members concluded, the Deputy Prime Minister said. The Deputy PM headed a 200-member emergency group, consisting of rescuers, mountaineers, parachutists, police officers and physicians, who worked on the site.
“It is imperative to strictly regulate mountaineering activities on which mountains can be climbed during which time of year, intensify the control of corresponding government and nongovernment organizations and ensure compliance,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.
