The “Cultural Creative Month” National Campaign Underway

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Arts and the State Committee of Physical Education and Sports, is organizing the nationwide “Cultural Creative Month” Campaign, which will run all throughout November.
The Campaign was inaugurated with the exhibition “Ancient Splendor,” highlighting the historical Mongolian figures such as Queen Consort of Mongolia Dondogdulam Tsend, State Prize Laureate and Honored Cultural Worker of Mongolia Choidog Eregzen, prominent writer and one of the founders of modern Mongolian literature Buyannemekh Sonombaljir and Hero of Labor of Mongolia and Grand Champion Munkhbat Jigjid. The aim of this initiative is to instill the values, expertise, and wisdom of these esteemed figures in future generations, especially children and youth.
Throughout the month of November, museums, professional arts institutions, and cultural centers at the provincial, capital, and district levels will promote and celebrate notable scholars and distinguished figures from their localities, emphasizing their unique contributions. In addition to these local events, major centralized activities are being held. These include virtual forums on cultural heritage, creative arts, enlightenment, and sports; performances and events dedicated to youth and honoring senior figures in the sector; investment activities in culture and sports; a culture and sports expo; leadership conferences; and the “Cultural Creativity Month” Forum. As part of the "Cultural Creativity Month," nearly 2,000 events for the youth and the public under the theme “Inheriting and Creating the Present and Future,” covering various fields such as “Cultural Heritage,” “Creative Arts,” “Enlightenment,” and “Sports.” These include exhibitions, art performances, creative expos, discussions, sports competitions, and participatory educational programs.
In line with supporting cultural and creative production, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia has submitted a draft law on Supporting Cultural Creative Production to the State Great Khural of Mongolia, including plans to introduce a “Cultural Voucher” system for youth, inspired by successful models from France, Germany, and South Korea. This will enable approximately 51,000 young people aged 16-18 to attend exhibitions, cultural events, and training organized during the “Cultural Creative Month” and will facilitate access to digital books and journals. A preliminary survey for this initiative has already commenced.
This month-long campaign aligns with Mongolia’s long-term development policy “Vision-2050,” the Mongolian Government’s 2024-2028 Action Plan, the “Resolution on Adopting Priorities and Measures of Cultural Creative Production,” the “Law on Culture,” and the upcoming “Law on Supporting Cultural Creative Production.” It seeks to enhance public-private partnerships, foster public enlightenment through culture, arts, and sports, strengthen national values, and increase the social and economic impact of culture, sports, and tourism. Since 2021, the campaign has been held annually, reaching 1.6 million citizens through 5,691 events.
