London, March 21, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve is paying an official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on March 18-23, 2025.
On March 20, 2025, Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve visited the Satellite Applications Catapult, a UK government-backed innovation center.
The Satellite Applications Catapult focuses on developing and expanding the application of space technology. Mongolian citizen Ms. Maral Bayaraa, who is named as one of "ten of the UK’s most talented young researchers," works at the center as a senior advisor. Ms. Maral defended her doctorate at the University of Oxford and was awarded the prestigious Keeley Scholarship.
Based on the data dating back to 1970, when satellite launches first began worldwide, the "Satellite Applications Catapult" center works in collaboration with private sector partners to conduct research in various areas, including the environment, agriculture, urban planning, and mining. Specifically, the Center uses satellite data to determine soil suitability for agriculture, identify high-efficiency locations for solar and wind power plants, and study the environmental impacts of mining activity.
During the visit to the center, Speaker of the Parliament Amarbayasgalan discussed potential avenues for collaboration in new areas such as artificial intelligence, high technology, green development, and the labor market.
