Unified system for livestock registration introduced

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Two-day international seminar on “Current state of the livestock identification and registration” was held on October 7-8.
At the seminar Head of the Livestock Genetic Resources Department of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry D.Batsuren and Scientific Secretary of the Mongolian State University of Life Sciences Dr. D.Gurbazar provided information on ‘Livestock identification and registration system’ as well as its research and development state.
Moreover, Head of the Food Agriculture Department of Uvurkhangai aimag S.Tserenbaljir, and a representative of “Interactive” LLC made presentations on experiences gained from the implementation of the pilot project in local area as well as the system software development.
Livestock was actively registered and identified during 1959-1992 in Mongolia. However, there was neither unified system nor software to archive the registered livestock information.
Regulation on Establishing Unified Database on Livestock Identification and Registration, approved in 2011, has greatly impacted to the establishment of the unified database of livestock registration.
