Ulaanbaatar, April 3, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Artists of the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet are set to perform at the Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in the Republic of Buryatia, the Russian Federation.

On April 4, 2025, a total of 110 artists from the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet will perform at the National Theatre of Ulan-Ude, presenting Giuseppe Verdi’s world-renowned opera “Aida” alongside a gala concert. Recognized as one of the crowning achievements of the global operatic repertoire, “Aida” is seldom staged by theatres due to its complexity.

The Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet holds the distinction of being the first institution in both Mongolia and Asia to stage “Aida”, premiering the production in 2011. Remarkably, the opera composed by Giuseppe Verdi, with a libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni based on a scenario by Camille du Locle, was brought to Mongolian audiences 140 years after its original debut.

The Mongolian production of "Aida" was directed by Chief Conductor of the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre and Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Anatoly Petrovich Chepurnoy, and conducted by Honored Cultural Figure of Mongolia Tuulaikhuu Nyamaa. In the inaugural Mongolian performance, the leading roles were performed by Honored Artists of Mongolia S. Munguntsetseg and Sh. Naranchimeg, while the role of Radamès was sung by the Honored Artist of Mongolia B. Gombo-Ochir and Ch. Tumendemberel.
