Large-Scale Cleanup Ongoing in Ulaanbaatar

Ulaanbaatar, April 7, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Governor’s Office of the Capital City plans to organize six large-scale cleanups this year. A regular general cleanup began on March 22, 2025, and it will be organized in three stages until April 12, 2025. So far, 39,200 tons of waste have been cleaned from an area of 5.2 million square meters.
Head of the Environmental Pollution, Waste and Management Department of the Governor’s Office of the Capital City B. Munkh-Erdene said, “To create a pleasant, healthy, and safe working and living environment for citizens, a general spring cleaning event has been launched to run in three stages. Out of more than 70 thousand business entities operating in the capital, more than 20 thousand are actively participating in the clean-up. In addition, employees of more than 4,000 organizations, including more than 1,000 Apartment Owners Associations, 430 state entities, 2,411 business entities, 201 schools, and 178 kindergartens, have joined the cleaning campaign. Over the course of 14 days, 50 thousand meters of fences and barriers have been washed, 94 thousand hectares of lawns have been cleaned, and 39,200 tons of waste have been removed from 5.2 million square meters of area.”
In
addition, officials urged businesses and organizations to regularly clean 50
meters of their surrounding areas, sort and separate garbage, and regularly wet clean roads and streets.
