National Women’s Basketball Team of Mongolia Qualified to Play in “B” Division of the Asian Basketball Championship

April 25, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has officially announced the teams to play
in the “B” Division of the 2025 Asian Women’s Basketball Championship.
On July 13-20, 2025, eight teams will compete in
the division in Shenzhen, the People’s Republic of China. Out of the
qualification round, six teams, including Taiwan from East Asia, India
from South Asia, Kazakhstan from Central Asia, Iran from Western Asia, and the Cook Islands and Tahiti from the Asia Pacific, have earned their qualification to compete.
Teams from Mongolia and Thailand were granted rights for the vacant seats.
Mongolia hosted the Eastern Zone qualification round of the Asian Women’s Basketball Championship, in which the National team was in second place in the group. The official letter of the FIBA noted, “The National
Basketball Team Association of Mongolia has been successfully organizing major
regional tournaments locally, and the FIBA highly commends and appreciates its
contribution to the Asian basketball development.”
Therefore, the National Women’s Basketball Team of Mongolia will play in the “B” division for the second time. When the Mongolian team first participated in the tournament in 2023, it played against teams from Iran, Indonesia, and Malaysia and finished without a win.
