Strengthening capability to conclude FTA through trainings

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On April 25-27, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a training themed ‘Free Trade Agreement and Free Trade Agreement of Turkey, Customs Union between Turkey and the European Union' in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of Turkey to strengthen Mongolia’s capability to conclude free trade agreement (FTA).
The Ministry is holding phased trainings for active participation of Mongolia in international and regional trade and economic cooperation, benefiting more from free trade process, bringing trade, investment and economic ties with neighboring and the third partner countries to a new level, concluding FTA with important trade partner countries and strengthening personnel’s capability to hold free trade talks and negotiations. This time the training involved more than 30 officials from 14 organizations such as the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Mongolia and the Financial Regulatory Committee.
Mongolia established Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) or the first FTA with Japan in 2015 and it has conducted a joint research work to have EPA with the Republic of Korea and now preparing to launch bilateral talks. Moreover Mongolia has submitted its request to establish FTA with Eurasian Economic Union and plans to commence joint study on possibility of having FTA with China this year.
