Reserve Meat Sales to Begin in February 2026

Ulaanbaatar, December 25, 2025 /MONTSAME/. During its regular session on December 24, the Cabinet assigned the municipal officials to build up a reserve of meat to supply the residents during the spring season and to sell it on the domestic market in phases starting from February 2026, in line with supply and distribution needs, and ensure quality and safety control during the procurement, distribution, and sale of the reserved meat.
It was also tasked to control and prevent artificial price
increases for key food products at the stages of production, supply, wholesale,
and retail trade, and to take preventive measures accordingly.
A preliminary estimate shows that 14.9 million head of livestock, which is equivalent to 543.0 thousand tons of meat, will be needed nationwide during the winter and spring of 2025–2026.
