Sea buckthorn harvesting begins

In times of the nationwide autumn works, people of Uvs aimag are working on the land of sea buckthorn.
Sea buckthorn called as the King of Fruits stores a plenty of healthy ingredients and it is harvested only by hands. The Uvs Khuns company planted this the fruit on 100 hectares area, and now is employing local people for the harvesting. The company is buying the fruit harvested by these people with 1,000 Tgrug per kilo.
Syrup and fresh oil from sea buckthorn manufactured by the company became the first product of Mongolia to receive the green barcode which is given to natural fresh goods accorded with the international standards.
The Uvs Khuns has been producing sea buckthorn oil for over 40 years and planting the fruit’s Elizabet and Altaisky sorts on 100 hectares under the “Sea buckthorn Plantation” project since 2007. The project’s objectives are to produce ecologically fresh foods, to cultivate the fruit bushes on their natural lands, to augment the reserve, to fight against desertification and to contribute to the development of botany in Mongolia.
