Mongolia to establish diplomatic relations with Belize
A joint communique on establishing diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Belize was signed on June 20 in New-York within the framework of a goal of Mongolia to establish diplomatic relations with all UN member states. S.Sukhbold, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations, and Lois Michele Young, Permanent Representative of Belize to the UN signed the document.

National Blood Transfusion Research Center opens branch in Bulgan aimag
Mongolian National Blood Transfusion Research Center opened its division in Bulgan aimag. G.Tuya, assistant doctor of the Bulgan aimag division of the National Blood Transfusion Research Center said that a blood bank of Bulgan aimag has been widened to a division in the scope of a project 'Health sector development-5' with an investment from the World Health Organization and Asian Development Bank. Maintenance and repair works amounting to MNT 55 million and equipment of MNT 432 million have been provided for the division.

Minister D.Oyunkhorol meets with Chinese tourism delegates
On June 19, D.Oyunkhorol, Minister of Environment and Tourism received Chinese delegates led by Li Jinzao, Chairman of China National Tourism Administration. The Chinese delegates arrived in Mongolia on June 19 within the framework of a meeting of tourism ministers of Mongolia, China and Russia, which is taking place in Ulan-Ude city of Russia.

On June 19, the Ministry of Health, Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver and Mongolian Association for the Study of Liver Diseases established a memorandum of mutual understanding to cooperate within the framework of activities to carry out the ‘Whole Liver-Mongolia” national program.

Veterinary hospitals in Uvurkhangai aimag receive equipment from USAID
Veterinary hospitals in 10 soums of Uvurkhangai aimag received equipment needed for their operations through the non-refundable aid from the U.S. Agency for International Development in Mongolia (USAID Mongolia) last week.  The USAID Mongolia assistance for Uvurkhangai aimag totaled MNT 50 million, including laboratory equipment, metal fences and others.

Ulaanbaatar International Media Art festival begins
The Arts Council of Mongolia is hosting ‘Ulaanbaatar’ international media art festival for the second time from June 9 to July 9 at the Mongolian Modern Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar. In the scope of the festival, a joint media exhibition under the theme ‘Vestige’ with attendance of artists from from Mongolia, the US, Austria, Germany, Israel, Netherlands, South Korea, Czech and the Philippines, a tour to produce a virtual movie showing the reintroduction and inhabitation of Takhi the Mongolian wild horse or Przewalski’s horse and training of media arts and a series of meetings named “Talks with Arts’  among artists.

On June 8, a ceremony to hand over equipment for the Health Department and Ophthalmic division of the Central Hospital of Darkhan-Uul aimag was held. The equipment was donated by 'Action of Mongolia’ non-governmental organization of France.

Health Minister meets IOM Regional Director
On May 29, A.Tsogtsetseg, Health Minister of Mongolia received Maria Nenette Motus, Regional Director of International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Asia and the Pacific.   At the meeting, Maria Nenette Motus introduced that the IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.

Sand Festival 2017 to take place in Gobi-Altai aimag in July
Sand Festival-2017 cultural event will take place on July 24-25 at the Ereen Lake tourist camp in Gobi-Altai aimag, Mongolia. During the festival, various cultural events, an exhibition of 'Made in Mongolia' products products for tourists, and sport competitions, sand volleyball, relay race to mountain top, sandboarding, sand sumo wrestling, polo match, anklebone shooting, children’s wrestling, and colt racing will be held.

Meat packing factory to be built in Gobi-Altai aimag
A medium-sized meat packing factory will be built in Chandmani soum of Gobi-Altai aimag, with a financing of non-refundable aid from Turkey. The construction is expected to complete within this year.

Mongolia and Czech establish agreement on aviation cooperation
On May 25, D.Ganbat, Minister of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia and Ivana Grollova, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Mongolia signed an agreement on aviation relationship. Thanks to the agreement, the two countries will enjoy opportunity to develop bilateral air transport relations, by conducting direct and charter flight between Mongolia and Czech.

On May 22, the fifteenth consular consultative meeting between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Russia took place in Ulaanbaatar. At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on issues concerning consular affairs and protection of citizens’ rights and other issues of bilateral cooperation. The consular consultation was headed by Ya.Ariunbold, Director of Consular Department of Mongolian Foreign Ministry and N.M.Latipov, Vice Director of Consular Department of Russian Foreign Ministry.

Two resolutions sponsored by Mongolia adopted by ESCAP 73rd session
The 73rd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) convened from 15 to 19 May 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand. Delegations from 45 member-states of the Commission attended the session, which was held under the theme of the “Regional Cooperation for Sustainable Energy” and discussed the issues related to enhancing cooperation on inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development in the region.

Mongolian delegates visit Czech Republic
 A delegation of Mongolia led by Ts.Batbayar, Deputy Minister of Environment and Tourism and J.Saule, Deputy Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry paid a working visit to the Czech Republic. Some 10 meat and meat product manufacturers were included in the delegation. Mongolian delegates met with Marian Jurecka, Czech Minister of Agriculture during an exhibition of livestock farming held in Brno city of Czech. The sides talked about potentials to widen the two countries' relations and cooperation in the agricultural sector. At the meeting, Czech Minister Marian Jurecka expressed his readiness to give support for implementing projects and programs in this area and introducing new technologies in Mongolia.

Horse Festival to take place in Bulgan aimag next July
Next July, Horse Festival will take place in a place called Dondog bulag (meaning Dondog water well) near the Urmiin White Lake in Bulgan aimag. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Bulgan aimag, the Horse Festival will be organized for the first time with an aim to develop tourism in rural areas of Mongolia, to promote culture and tradition of Mongolian herders, horses and airag (fermented milk of mares).
