Mongolian Athletes Win Three Medals at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships
SportsUlaanbaatar October 31, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The Jiu-Jitsu World Championship is being held in Heraklion, Greece, on October 29-November 3.
Currently, Mongolian athletes have won one silver medal and two bronze medals in the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship. Specifically, in the women’s 57kg category Garuda Academy athlete and captain of the Mongolian national team, Mongoljin Ganbaatar defeated opponents from Israel, Panama, and Sweden before losing to a Hungarian opponent in the group title. Thus, she defeated fellow Mongolian athlete Shurentsetseg Enkhmunkh to win the bronze medal and she became the fifth Mongolian athlete to win a medal at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships. Before her, Bayarmaa Munkhgerel and Battsetseg Tsog-Ochir earned bronze medals in 2015, and Sugar Myagmar and Khulan Batmunkh earned bronze medals in 2023.
Additionally, the Mongolian team earned the bronze medal for the first time in the mixed-team category. In this category, the Israeli team won the gold medal, Germany won the silver, and Mongolia and France both won the bronze medals. In addition, Khongorzul Bulten, an athlete from the “Jump Academy”, won the silver medal in the women’s + 70 kg contact category.
