Foreign Minister holds official talks with his Japanese counterpart

Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar held official talks with his Japanese counterpart
Taro Kono.
At the meeting, Minister
D.Tsogtbaatar expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for supporting
sustainable development in Mongolia and implementing economic reforms through
structure diversification. As the Mongolia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement
started giving positive results, it was proposed to organize the meeting of
relevant subcommittees on intensifying implementation of the agreement.
Minister Taro Kono noted that the countries need to increase trade in both
directions and pledged to provide support in this regard.
Mongolian side requested
for the next phase of the ‘Two-Step-Loan Project for Small and Medium-Scaled
Enterprises Development and Environmental Protection’ implemented with a soft
loan from the Government of Japan.
The parties expressed
satisfaction with the successful negotiations on the establishment of New
Ulaanbaatar International Airport Concession Agreement and agreed to intensify
the work on the airport opening in the near future.
Minister Taro Kono noted
that he was delighted to attend the inauguration of the Mongolia-Japan Teaching
Hospital built with the grant aid from the Government of Japan.
The sides
also discussed the expansion of cultural, arts and sports exchange in
connection with the 2020 Summer Olympics, Paralympic Games and celebration of
the 45th anniversary of the Agreement on Cultural Relations between Mongolia
and Japan.
The same day, Minister Taro Kono paid a courtesy call on Mongolia’s President Kh.Battulga and Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh respectively.
