Ulaanbaatar
/MONTSAME/ In 2021, the State Great Khural approved the Law on Cinematography,
which
came into force the same year. Thanks to the creation of a favourable legal
framework, the Ministry of Culture is closely working together with foreign
countries to support the industry.
Last
year, the launch of a USD 7.5 million film project involving Mongolia, Hungary,
and the UK was discussed and it was estimated that around USD 2 million would
be spent on shooting in Mongolia alone.
On February 21, during the 7th
meeting of Mongolia-Hungary Intergovernmental Commission, Minister of Culture
Ch.Nomin and Ambassador of Hungary to Mongolia Borbala Obrusánszky signed a
Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in film studios, film studies, and
film production between the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia and the Ministry of
Human Resources of Hungary.
Under
the MoU, the sides have agreed to cooperate in various efforts to develop cinematography
in both countries by establishing a film studio that meets international standards,
improving film studios and productions, and organizing meetings of filmmakers,
producers, and other film industry professionals regularly.
They
will also support partnerships between film organizations and schools through
exchanges of artists, students, and research data.
