"GIMAR-2022" scientific conference being organized at NUM
EconomyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The “GIMAR-2022”
scientific conference under the theme “Problems of Mongolian and regional
geology” is being held at the National University of Mongolia to commemorate
the 83rd anniversary of the establishment of the National Geological Service in
Mongolia. The scientists and experts in the spheres of geology, mining and mineral resources are participating
in the discussion.
Chairman of the General Council of Mongolian Geological
Associations Ya. Bat-Ireedui clarified that “the economic development policy of
any country is indistinguishably linked with the geological field. We are
discussing this in detail. Today, geology faces two major tasks: to work with
the rural people in mining exploration, production, and development in their
local area, and to carry out legal reforms in the geology field immediately.”
He called for legal stability, friendliness, and an
updated environment when he mentioned that the geological field still needs
government policies and support.
He also said that people do not know that geology is a
branch of science and misunderstands that it is harmful to the environment when
they dig into the ground. Therefore, geologists need to pay more attention to
this and do something to create awareness about the industry.
A clear example of how Mongolia has benefited from the
geological field’s development and geologists’ hard work in large-scale
developments is “Erdenet Mining Corporation” SOE.
Chairman of the General Council of Mongolian Geological
Associations Ya. Bat-Ireedui and the director of the Institute for Sustainable
Development of Mining NGO and the mineral resource review newspaper “Erdes
Bayalgiin Toim” G. Iderhangai established a memorandum of understanding on
cooperation during the event, which brought together scientists, researchers,
and geologists from the field of geology.
They will cooperate and provide mutual support in improving legal and professional activities (such as meetings, conferences, training, mineral resources education, professional research, field trips, foreign and internal assignments, increasing the professional value of academics, and public promotion).
