Emergency response team saves lives of 622 people this year

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Since the beginning of this year, the National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia (NEMA) has saved 622 people and protected properties cost around MNT 5.6 billion in total from natural disasters. In 2016, 1300 people and properties of MNT 24.5 billion were rescued in times of natural disaster as well.
On May 16, at the central square of Ulaanbaatar, the NEMA hosted an open day event to introduce facilities and equipment used during the emergency situations by the Agency and to promote the activities to the public. Also, emergency doctors, rescuers and trainers organized a first-aid training for emergency preparedness.
In the last two years, the NEMA has updated its facilities and equipment with an investment of more than MNT 40 billion to improve its capacity.
The open day event was attended by corresponding divisions of the Emergency Management Agency in Ulaanbaatar and partnering organizations to improve public awareness and public education for disaster risk reduction.
