Young Mongolian Judokas to Compete in the Junior European Cup Series

Ulaanbaatar, February 6, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Junior European Cup series tournaments will begin on February 8, 2025, in the Italian Republic and the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Young athletes from Mongolia, under the guidance of Hero of Labor of Mongolia Kh. Tsagaanbaatar, Olympic and World Championship bronze medalist G. Otgontsetseg, and International Master D. Altansukh, have submitted their entries for these competitions. Specifically, the Genova Cadet European Cup-2025 will be held in Genova, Italy, while the Sarajevo Junior European Cup-2025 will take place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both tournaments offer world ranking points and serve as qualification events for the Cadet and Junior World Championships. 

The Italian tournament is for athletes aged 15 to 17. As of today, 523 young judokas from 21 countries have registered. From Mongolia, 11 male and six female judokas will compete. The men’s team will include T. Tugskhuslen (50 kg), P. Altantsooj (55 kg), B. Tsolmon-Od, N. Tegsh-Ochir, B. Sodmandakh (60 kg), N. Erdemdalai, B. Chingunjav (66 kg), B. Dalaitseren, B. Temuulen, B. Gerelt-Och (73 kg), and L. Khulegu (90 kg). The women’s team will include Ts. Amin-Erdene (44 kg), B. Gundegmaa (52 kg), B. Tsendbazar, E. Oyundelger (57 kg), Kh. Maralmaa (63 kg), and Sh. Ariunmunkh (70 kg).

Meanwhile, the tournament in Bosnia and Herzegovina is for athletes aged 15 to 20. As of today, 395 judokas from 23 countries have registered. From Mongolia, last year’s Cadet World Championship silver medalists B. Bat-Enerel and M. Tergelsar will compete in the -60 kg category.
